About Me

Lucas Lippey

I was born in New York City and relocated to Miami in 8th grade. I have always had a strong interest in both the Sciences and the Humanities, and I am particularly passionate about the integration of scientific innovation, business, and government to address global public policy issues.

I spent this past summer as an intern for a large hedge fund specializing in biotechnology companies, where I researched, analyzed, and ultimately made an investment recommendation on the scientific and financial viability of a company that is developing a new type of oncological therapy. This experience reaffirmed my interest in the power of  biotechnologies to promote scientific breakthroughs with the potential to dramatically improve the duration and quality of life for all humanity. It also helped me realize that great things can be accomplished for mankind by effectively harnessing the power of  business, investment, and enlighted government policies.

In the summer of 2022, I served as a Congressional Intern in Washington D.C., where I worked for the Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Equality Caucus. During my time there, I gained exposure to the American public policy-making process in a variety areas such as climate control and the regulatory oversight of Big Tech. Following this experience, I developed and delivered a TEDx Talk on the importance of youth participation in politics for youngTEDxRansomEvergladesSchool.

In addition to my academic and work interests, I am an active member of the Varsity sailing team at Ransom Everglades School and a PADI-Certified Advanced Open Water Diver. I have always been fascinated by oceanography and recently I was selected by my school to participate in The International Reef Conservation Project, where I researched coral reef conservation methodologies in the Indian Ocean (in South Africa), and in the Red Sea (in Egypt and Jordan).

My personal interests are also diverse: I love global travel, The Beatles, great food, great books, and discussing global political issues. In my spare time, I help manage a local rock band.
